Maskína is currently conducting a survey on behalf of the Icelandic Regional Development Institute all over the country (outside of the capital area) to research the use of services and expectations of users to alterations in services.

It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete the survey. The survey is available in Icelandic, English and Polish.

Log-in is done via electronic ID to ensure the reliability of the survey, but all personal information is deleted before data processing commences.

The survey is a part of defining service areas and obtaining an understanding of the views of residents from different areas regarding alterations of services. The participation of residents in this survey is very important for future regional development in different parts of the country. It is especially important to receive replies from rural areas of the country, to enable us to process the results and achieve a clear view of residents’ use of services in sparsely populated areas. The results will be used to support communities all over the country.

According to the strategic regional development plan for the years 2022-2036, the authorities aim to make access to services more equal and promote sustainable development of communities. Service surveys are a part of analysing whether service levels are comparable throughout the country, to enable us to evaluate if and what changes are needed, how services can be improved or how access to services can be made more equal. The survey seeks to answer where and how often residents receive various services, whether public services or other services. We ask about the frequency of use of services (for the past 30 days) and services used less frequently (on a yearly basis). The survey also has questions about expectations regarding alterations in the availability of services, services that need to be added or improved, and what loss or impairment of services would have the most effect on the current residents.

Service surveys have been conducted once before, in seven parts of Iceland during the years 2016-2017, with the results published for each part of the country in 2017 and 2018 (see publications on the Icelandic Regional Development Institute’s website).
